The Registered Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by all nursing personnel in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards governing the facility. He/she will ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times and will provide direct nursing care as needed. The Registered Nurse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the activities of all Departments if the respective Department Head is not on premises. He/she will be responsible for the facility and its management when the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Assistant Director of Nursing is not present.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required

• Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing and currently licensed by the State of Pennsylvania

• Previous experience in a supervisory capacity

• Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures and laws, regulations, and guidelines governing long-term care.

• Must be 18 years of age

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must be able to supervise and instruct others

• Must have a positive attitude towards the elderly

• Ability to communicate with residents, families, physicians, consultants, and the public

• Ability to communicate with, understand, and instruct personnel

• Must understand and act upon complex issues and problems and must communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people

• Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills required

• Effective leadership and management skills required

• Must speak and understand English
