The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be responsible for the organization’s day-to-day payroll related operations; such as weekly payroll processing for approximately 65 employees, benefits administration and employee relations. This position also provides accounting and project management support to the accounting team and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Responsibilities of the Payroll and Benefits Administrator:

  • Analyze, prepare and input payroll data. Use excel spreadsheets and Paychex system to produce accurate and timely payroll. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Prepare and produce reports as needed.
  • Update various payroll related excel files and record monthly payroll journal entries.
  • Review all payroll and benefits related invoices.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal labor laws including wage and hour laws.
  • Ensure correct garnishments, deductions and benefit contributions.
  • Maintain and organize payroll and HR employee files in accordance with employment law requirements.
  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy of I-9 files.
  • Health insurance and benefit administration which includes helping employees file claims with insurance carriers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of guidelines and laws pertaining to the leaves of absences including FMLA, NYPFL, disability, and workers’ compensation (including OSHA reporting).
  • Provide guidance and education to all employees on the organization’s health, welfare and retirement plans.
  • Complete employment verifications.
  • Complete all new hire forms and retirement / terminated employee forms.
  • Document and develop workflow and work procedures and policies.
  • Provide support to Finance personnel (accounts receivable and accounts payable).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements for the Payroll and Benefits Administrator:

  • Associate’s degree or Certified Payroll Professional designation preferred.
  • 5 to 7 years related payroll experience.
  • Spanish or Portuguese speaking (bilingual) a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
