Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant:

• Compiles data and records relative to product orders, materials received and inventory status;
• Perform job cost analysis and work orders including the calculation of material, labor and overhead cost;
• Compiles and analyzes data necessary to maintain accurate and up to date inventory;
• Perform physical inventories with reconciliations to perpetual records as much as quarterly at the mill and warehouse
• Perform and reconcile inventory deletes and adds to accurately reflect material flow, material and product availability and store location;
• Create material listings, shipping and invoicing documentation related to scrap sales;
• Assist in monthly closings including but not limited to inventory compilation, cost of goods sold calculation, preparation of journal entries and analysis of results;
• Determine and maintain cost files used for inventory valuation and gross margin analysis;
• Preparation of monthly reporting package for management;
• Prepare various month end reports including but not limited to Aging, Consignment, and Surcharge Reports;
• Various Year End reports as needed;
• Yearly FIFO calculation; and
• Special Projects as needed

Job Requirements for the Cost Accountant:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting required plus some experience within a general or cost accounting support function, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
• Demonstrated ability to compile data accurately.
• Must have a strong working knowledge of general accounting principles.
• Strong working knowledge of the use and application of Microsoft Office suite software products, intermediate Excel knowledge.
• Must have strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization across all departments in order to provide and obtain required information.
• May be required to work off shifts and weekends to complete physical inventory.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
