The Quality Assurance and Data Specialist delivers exceptional data and technology services throughout the agency, with a specific emphasis on the Michigan State Homeless Management Information System (MSHMIS) and Avalon's internal Electronic Health Record (EHR), as well as supporting the flow of information between these databases and legacy property management software. Collaborating with multiple teams and departments, the Quality Assurance and Data Specialist addresses data and technology-related issues and requirements by ensuring data integrity and facilitating timely reporting and decision-making.

Core Responsibilities

Information Management:

  • Collect, enter, and organize data from various sources including surveys, interviews, and administrative records.
  • Maintain data stability and quality across agency databases including the MSHMIS database, Avalon Services EHR, and legacy property management software.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve resource libraries accessible through internal staff portals.
  • Quality Assurance
  • Use quality control checks to track performance and compliance in identified areas
  • Participate in Avalon's Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) Committee, assisting with the collection and analysis of performance data, and defining and implementing improvement plans.
  • Problem-solve data quality issues to ensure that data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze trends, present findings, and interpret reports for different audiences.
  • Enhance reporting processes and tools.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • A combination of professional and/or educational experience working with data systems in the social work, human services, or nonprofit sectors.
  • At least two years experience in data entry, data cleaning, database maintenance, and version control of forms libraries.
  • Other lived experiences similar to those listed above will be considered, and individuals with such experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Advanced proficiency in GSuite including Google Sheets, or in Microsoft Excel with the ability to adapt to a GSuite working environment.
  • Understanding of data organization and manipulation principles.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative techniques for gathering, analyzing, and measuring performance.
  • Proficiency in, or willingness to learn, analysis and data viz functions in software like R or Tableau.
  • Experience providing client-centered care or exceptional customer service experience.
