Summary

Under the supervision of the Physician Network President, the Physician Network Business Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the overall functions of the Physician Network Business Office to ensure maximization of cash flow while improving patient, physician, and other customer relations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Registration Front Desk

  • Provide oversight of the billing operations of the ambulatory clinics for the AVALA Physician Network, performs overall revenue management including satisfying timely filing requirements and maximizing billing revenue and collections, and resolution of denied/rejected claims.
  • Work closely with clinic managers and physicians on business office concerns and functions as a liaison to AVALA Physician Network Administration to review and manage professional billing activities, production reports, and coding benchmarking.
  • Review and advise the Director of Patient Financial Services, and President of the Physician Network on revenue cycle issues and solutions. Demonstrates knowledge of all features and functions of the revenue cycle management system.
  • Provides monthly updates of revenue cycle status including reports, metrics, and presentations. Works with Administration as needed to accomplish. Notifies appropriate staff regarding any issues or concerns in a timely manner.

With other members of the management team, develop continuous processes and priorities for quality improvement to improve revenue cycle outcomes.

Other Duties

  • Functions as back up to concierge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Professional Requirements

  • Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Completes in-services and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
  • Attends staff meetings annually, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Promotes professional growth of subordinates by sharing knowledge and/or directing them to sources if information appropriate to given situation. Utilizes journals, books, etc. to learn and/or improve new techniques and equipment.
  • Assists other staff members in performing any duty that enhances the delivery of patient care.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in a business or related field or relevant experience with progressive development of responsibilities.
  • Minimum of five years business office management experience; prefer some experience as a department manager.
  • Proficiency in use of billing software applications and general MS Office applications. · Experience working with all types of third-party payers. (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Workers Comp, Personal Injury etc.) and understanding billing requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates accountability, integrity, professionalism, openness, receptive to change, creativity and innovative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

This position is very active and requires repetitive motions, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
