Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Autism Services' Education Program is certified by the New York State Education Department to provide full-year school services to children ages 5 through 21. We provide individualized instruction founded in respect and creativity.

Our classes are 6:1:3 structured with additional support staff. We have two locations, in Amherst and Buffalo. The program has been in operation since 1989. A typical day includes academic work, therapy sessions, art and music classes, and adaptive physical education classes.

100% of students have likes and interests included in instruction. We utilize highly differentiated instruction, the curriculum is modified for each student to meet their individual needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight, supervision, support, guidance, and professional development to teachers and classroom staff.
  • Coordinate daily staffing assignments throughout the building to ensure safe supervision of students.
  • Oversee teachers' development, implementation, and progress monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEP's).
  • Serve as a role model for the school community in upholding agency philosophy and mission.
  • Monitor teaching staff for sufficient classroom management and application of classroom behavioral supports and interventions.
  • Monitor classroom instruction to ensure appropriate and sufficient implementation of agency-endorsed educational curriculum and instructional methodology. Respond to substandard implementation of educational curriculum and instruction with plans of correction.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations to maintain a visible and active leadership role throughout the building, as well as to provide teachers and classroom staff with valuable feedback so they may hone their professional skills.
  • Ensure compliance with school, agency and SED policy on incident reporting and protection from mistreatment and abuse.
  • Protect educational records and other information in compliance with FERPA. Coordinate completion of Universal Consent forms so necessary information can be shared with internal (i.e., agency) and external parties.
  • Facilitate parent/teacher interaction regarding students' educational services. Help parents who have questions regarding IEP's and other aspects of education programming.
  • Facilitate meetings between staff, parents, and treatment team members to develop recommendations, support students, and resolve concerns.
  • Approve payroll, time off requests, and staff injury reports for education staff. Conduct staff injury investigations when needed.
  • Interview and hire education staff as needed.
  • Review and approve purchase of program materials.
  • Ensure that all safety and sanitation policies and procedures are followed.
  • Conduct annual written evaluations for staff in supervision, including professional goal-setting.
  • Responsible for approving the bi-weekly payroll for your staff accurately and timely via Paylocity.
  • Responsible for ensuring that confidentiality is strictly maintained as required by law and Agency policy.
  • Responsible for securing and protecting personal and agency related data by adhering to the Agency's computer security policies.
  • Follow all agency policies, procedures, rules and applicable regulations. Administer policies and procedures throughout education program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Education.
  • Current New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification, or willingness to actively pursue such certification.
  • Three or more years experience preferred, preferably in special education or other closely related field.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
