Aurora Innovation is Hiring a Senior Staff Hardware Validation Lead Near Mountain View, CA

Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re looking for a Hardware Validation Lead to help with verifying and validating our next generation electrical compute and sensor systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the team responsible for engineering validation of the kit from component level all the way through integration in a vehicle, including architecting, designing and execution of design verification and validation. In this role, you will partner strongly with design teams, reliability, safety, firmware teams, test teams, TPMs and contract manufacturing teams and other teams. 
  • Be the test architect who works with the team to define the test specifications in a revision controlled tool (like JAMA), architect the test strategy including processes for test execution, root-cause analysis, test reports, inform the choice of SW and HW tools, decisions on where to run tests, manage test budget etc. 
  • Own communication with external design and manufacturing partner (Continental) and OEM partners for VnV, including sharing or auditing plans, planning status updates, risk assessment, negotiating requirements, participating in FMEAs, providing technical guidance.
  • Help with prioritization of work for the teams, and work with the TPMs for project management of all VnV activities.
  • Be the POC for communications with external partners, including reviewing partner test proposals, developing test strategy for outsourced tests
  • Partner with the signal integrity and EMC team to provide technical guidance.

Required Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical or equivalent engineering field
  • 5 years of experience in test architecture
  • Ability to work hands on in the lab when needed, as well as articulate technical information to present to executives from a business perspective. 
  • Proven track record of strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, as well as external partners. 
  • Extensive technical experience in testing, analysis, or design of electrical and/or electro-mechanical systems.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience with lab management
  • Proven experience in the product life cycle development process from concept to production.
  • Familiar with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Familiar with EE design tools, such as schematic capture and layout
  • People management

The base salary range for this position is $197,000 - $315,000. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
