As a software engineer in the autonomy acceleration team at Aurora, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and maintaining software systems at the core of our self-driving vehicles. The team works across the autonomy group (localization, perception, planning, controls) and the software organization at large, on high-priority, short-term projects that are cross-functional in nature with the goal of speeding up the delivery of a production autonomous vehicle. Past projects have included managing onboard latency, visualizing autonomy, end-to-end autonomy metrics, performance optimization, building critical V&V tooling, and supporting autonomy simulation. Team members collaborate every day with leading experts in machine learning, sensor development, large-scale software systems, simulation, and robotics and have opportunities for advancing the state of autonomous systems and implementing their own groundbreaking ideas.
As a team, we strive to increase the pace of development and amplify our impact by developing systems and components targeted at critical parts of the self-driving problem. We focus on short-term efforts in both leadership and support capacities, while bringing a cross-autonomy perspective to the task at hand, and deploying disciplined engineering, evaluation of data, and rigorous testing. Our goal is to support onboard and off-board software development, with projects including deep performance optimization, visualization, developer and cloud tooling, system architecture, and core algorithm development.
