Augusta-Richmond County is Hiring a Building Maintenance Worker Near Augusta, GA
- Assists skilled trades person(s) with various maintenance related tasks; addresses immediate operational and/or safety concerns; ensures materials, tools, and needed equipment are maintained in good working order and available when needed.
- Assists in maintaining the supply inventory; prepares materials list for assigned projects and needed tools; contributes to ensure a clean and safe shop area and work zone.
- Assists with HVAC, groundskeeper, and general maintenance tasks when necessary. Accurately details work production via assigned work order reports. Provides project details (completed / in progress) in a timely fashion to assigned supervisor.

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance of residential or commercial properties.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC repair methods and standards.
- Familiarity with standard practices, tools, terminology and safety practices of the trade.
- Mastery of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Flexibility in schedule to be on call weekends and nights.
- This position involves working in a secure facility. Employee shall meet and maintain security requirements set by the Sheriff's Department.
- Data Utilization: Requires the ability to determine, calculate, tabulate, or summarize data/information, following a prescribed plan requiring the exercise of some judgment. Includes performing subsequent actions in relation to these computational operations.
- Human Interaction: Requires the ability to exchange information for the purpose of clarifying details within well established policies, procedures and standards.
- Equipment: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.
- Verbal: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference and descriptive data and information.
- Math: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs.
- Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
- Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria.
- Physical Abilities: Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
- Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
- Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, noise extremes, and electric currents.
