Augusta-Richmond County is Hiring a FINANCE SUMMER INTERN Near Augusta, GA

The internship enables opportunities for students to gain real-world experience by working on a wide range of accounting projects in an office environment. This position is available for undergraduate students to participate in supervised practical training in a professional field. Assists in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks; assists in the analysis, investigation, and solution of problems; and assists in developing electronic and hard copy documentation as required.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: This internship will provide an understanding of how a Finance Department works within a local government and how essential the job is as a public service. An intern will be able to assist in the development of a new fiscal year budget and learn the communication skills Finance requires in order to be successful.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  • Support Finance staff by assisting with budgeting and reporting required by State and Federal governments.
  • Assist in analyzing financial data, reconciling ledger accounts, and reconciling bank accounts.
  •  Compiles material for outside agencies’ budget request package
  • Assist with various tasks within grants, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
  • Basic administrative tasks.
  • As Assigned Performs other duties similar in nature.
Education: Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or have obtained an Associates or Bachelors in Accounting or Finance within one year of the internship start date. 
 
Experience: No experience required. Intern will be trained to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the internship.

  • Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
  • Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
  • Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
