The physical therapist assistant is responsible for implementing the treatment plan of care, developed by the primary physical therapist, for all patients across the life span assigned to them. The physical therapist assistant is expected to perform selected patient treatment procedures, perform measurement and data collection, but not to include the performance of an evaluation. These tasks are to be performed without direct supervision, and in a timely, effective manner that corresponds to the normal productivity standards for the department. The physical therapist assistant is responsible to consult with the primary physical therapist regarding alterations to the treatment plan of care due to changes in patient status or prognosis. Additional responsibilities will include administrative assignments as assigned. The physical therapist assistant will adhere to all state and federal regulations that apply to the practice of physical therapy.
