SUMMARY:
The Auditing Manager will be responsible for the development and supervision of Claims Auditor(s). The Auditing Manager will also complete claim file audits of adjusters and/or managers. Audits will assist in assessing each adjuster’s individual level of performance and if department goals and objectives are being met on a consistent basis.
The Auditing Manager will assure that Auditors are completing audits of claim files in a prompt, professional and efficient manner in accordance with company guidelines and procedures.
The Auditing Manager will maintain the schedule of when the audits are to be completed and the files that will be audited. The Auditing Manager will also be responsible for completing unit and department audit score spreadsheets and addressing any audit rebuttals.
The Auditing Manager will also assist with training and development of new hires and existing staff and periodically review the auditing program to make sure it is current and meets the needs of the claims department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct claim file audits each quarter for each adjuster in the department.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide feedback to management and adjustment staff based on audit results.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of coverage, liability, investigation, litigation, negotiation, salvage, subrogation, of general liability, construction defect, property, garage, and auto physical damage claims handling.
  • Assist in quarterly and annual performance reviews.
  • Regular contact with directors, managers, examiners, adjusters, and other department personnel.
  • Provide unit managers copies of the quarterly individual file audits for each of their direct reports, along with a unit assessment and a spreadsheet that list the adjuster’s scores for each unit of the audit form, along with the overall audit score for everyone.
  • Assist and direct the auditors in the proper review of claim files and completion of the audit form.
  • Review claim audits to assure timeliness and quality of work product.
  • Provide guidance and mentor personnel in the unit.
  • Have responsibility regarding training and development of auditors, managing performance, resolving conflicts and problems, distributing work, checking work, etc.
  • Ensure employee objectives, performance and evaluations are consistent with department goals and objectives by performing quarterly and annual personnel performance evaluations.
  • Ensure confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution or 12-15 years of equivalent commercial claims experience.
  • 4-7 years supervision and training experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated and proven record in handling claims, including advanced skills in coverage, investigation, litigation, negotiation, damage/injury evaluation, salvage, and subrogation.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the state laws and regulations governing the handling of claims.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written. Good computer skills, with knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.


LICENSING:

A resident adjuster’s license in North Carolina. A non-resident adjuster’s license
where required in the states where we do business.


MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The ability to think independently, to collect, compile and organizing facts and figures in accordance with established procedures. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form. Reasoning; dealing with problems involving a few variables in standard situations.

Works indoors at a cubicle with a computer. The noise level is usually moderate.

TRAVEL:20% to40% (depending on where the auditors are located, the supervisor may need to travel to branch offices to visit with their direct reports)
