As a Teacher, you will serve within our ministry by guiding classroom activities for children.

This is a 60-day temporary assignment. 

The schedule is Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4pm

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Classroom Management

• Establish a child-centered, safe learning environment following prescribed guidelines.
• Plan and implement a flexible daily schedule learning, enrichment and recreational activities based on the developmental needs of children.
• Develop and implement lesson plans using the prescribed curriculum that meet the emotional, social, physical, spiritual and cognitive needs of both the individual child and group while keeping the center’s educational goals and beliefs.
• Interact with children at their level both physically and intellectually.
• Use appropriate positive discipline and classroom management following Georgia Bright from the Start licensing regulations.
• Be responsible for the safety and welfare of children in your care. Plan and implement methods to provide constant supervision of each child.
• Keep classroom and resources and supply areas clean and orderly.
• Greet each child while conducting an inconspicuous health check.
• Encourage mealtime to be a pleasant social and learning experience by engaging in conversation with children during meals while acting as a positive role model.

Interpersonal Skills

• Must work well with peers to create an environment of teamwork and harmony.
• Must be able to accept constructive criticism from supervisor or persons of authority.
• Must possess good communication skills. Establish positive relationships with parents through verbal and written communication.
• Must be able to effectively communicate the center’s philosophy and core beliefs.

Position Requirements:

• Two years of college or equivalent in Early Childhood Education.
• One year of classroom experience or two years' experience with CDA.
• Must love children and possess the ability to relate to them in a sensitive manner.
• Must be in reasonably good health and able to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
• Must be agile enough to perform the job as a teacher of small children.
• Must be knowledgeable of child development, developmentally appropriate practices and other resources available to early childhood educators.
• Must be willing to pursue further knowledge in the field of child development and to share that knowledge with others.
• Must be knowledgeable of Georgia Bright from the Start Licensing Regulations.
• Must support and abide by the center’s educational philosophy.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with parents and prospective parents.
• Must be able to work with peers in an effective manner.
• Must be certified in CPR and First Aid
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing, sitting and/or walking)
• Must have the ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator and computer printer
• Must be able to communicate accurate information
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40lbs

Environmental Job Requirements:

• Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions
• Moderate noise as in a business office environment
• Low to moderate exposure to communicable diseases as outlined by OSHA.
