The Level 1 Mechanic is expected to maintain all aspects of the building including lighting, plumbing, electrical, emergency systems, HVAC & departmental needs.
ØPlumbing – repair of toilets, faucets, water heaters, and general plumbing throughout the facility; includes the installation of fixtures & piping.
ØExterior lighting repair & installation.
ØDaily check of air compressors.
ØMonitor RTU’s in multiple departments for proper functions.
ØMaintain parking lot (snow & ice removal, etc.).
ØCleaning & inspection of PIV valves & sprinkler systems.
ØGeneral facilities repair including doorways, floor repair, and some light construction work.
Electrical
ØInstallation & repair of electrical machinery.
ØRepair & replacement of facility lighting system (includes inspection & replacement of emergency & exit lighting systems).
ØGeneral electrical maintenance including main service switch gears & capacitor banks.
ØRelocating & installation of new service & distribution panels.
ØPLC-Connect to PLCs via a laptop to download programs & update machinery.
HVAC
ØAir wash system maintenance & repair.This includes cleaning of the air wash system, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.
ØChiller maintenance including daily water chemical test, cooling tower repairs, and daily checklist while is use.
ØBoiler maintenance including daily check list and water test.
ØCoordinate meetings with outside contractors.
ØMonitor RTU’s in multiple production departments for proper functioning.
Departmental Maintenance
ØMaintain machinery in Dye-House, Wax & Tab, and CIP.
ØSupervise & maintain preventative maintenance schedule in CIP.
Education / Experience
ØHigh school diploma or GED
ØTrade school / electrical training preferred.
Ø5 years of electrical and maintenance experience in an industrial setting
License / Credentials / Certifications
ØValid driver’s license
ØForklift license
ØLock out certification.
ØOSHA basic 3 certification (Electrical, machine guarding, PPE)
ØEPA 608 HVAC license (required or must obtain in first year)
Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities
ØBasic computer skills including Microsoft Office
ØPLC skills to connect, diagnose & repair PLC’s.
ØElectrical knowledge up to and including 480 VAC.
ØKnowledge of electrical test equipment & proper use of PPE
ØPlumbing with various materials (copper, PVC, steel pipe, etc.)
ØChemical SDS labeling knowledge & proper handling of chemicals.
ØComfortable working at heights on mezzanines as well as on lifts
ØGood communication skills
ØAbility to operate & maintain snow removal equipment
ØAbility to work independently with little or no supervision.
ØWelding (MIG, SMAW), fabricating, machining, and metalworking.
ØLight construction skills in floor repair, concrete, & carpentry.
Working Hours / Environment
ØRequires a 45-hour work week.1st shift, Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm.
ØOvertime may be required with or without notice during the week and on weekends.
ØOn call for emergency repairs (24/7).
ØWork is typically indoors in a manufacturing environment.Frequently it does require work outdoors in all weather conditions.
