Atkins Pearce is Hiring a Quality Technician - Prototype Development Near Covington, KY

JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE

As a Quality Technician - Prototype Development at Atkins & Pearce, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of both ongoing production and new products through rigorous testing and evaluation. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong ability to problem-solve, as you will also be integral in developing and testing prototypes for innovative products. Also, supporting the Management and Functional Groups’ goals for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and product quality.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Testing & Evaluation

ØQuality Testing and Assurance: Conduct tests and inspections of products at various stages of the production process to identify and correct potential failures or defects. Work with suppliers to resolve material issues.

ØPrototype Development and Testing: Collaborate with the product development team to design and execute prototypes. Test and refine prototypes based on performance data and feedback to ensure they meet quality standards and functional requirements.

ØDocumentation: Maintain accurate records of quality reports, statistical reviews, and relevant documentation.

ØContinuous Improvement: Recommend improvements to the production process based on findings from quality tests and prototype trials. Assist in implementing changes to enhance product quality and efficiency.

ØTeam Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including R&D, production, and engineering, to ensure product specifications are achieved.

Documentation / System Management

ØAssist in maintaining the Waste Report system, HUF database, COA system, etc.

ØWork with Quality Manager to prepare reports and documentation per AS9100 / ISO 9001 / TS16949 – PPAPs, IMDS, etc.

ØSupport the Operation with data reports on product and process analysis.

Data Analysis

ØAnalyze waste and production data for the functional teams to use for process improvement.

ØAnalyze customer return data and prepare reports for Management reviews.

ØAnalyze process data for new/modified processes.

ØAnalyze data from nonconforming product and make recommendations for process change.

Plant or Production Support

ØAssist Production areas in improvement of machine and production capabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

ØAssociate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Ø2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in quality control or product testing.

ØExperience in prototype development and testing is highly desirable.

ØStrong understanding of quality assurance standards and statistical analysis.

ØProficient with QA software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

ØExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

ØFork lift license

ØAdvanced attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

ØIntermediate ability to prioritize own wide-ranging work load and work independently.

ØAbility to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality regarding business and staff information.

ØAdvanced ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to a wide range of audiences – primarily staff, vendors, and customers.

ØIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.

ØIntermediate ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and vendors

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Hours / Environment

ØOffice hours are 40 hours per week – currently from 7:00am to 4:00pm (Monday – Friday).May require additional hours periodically, including evenings and weekends, depending on business needs.

ØWork is typically performed in an indoor office setting & plant environment (Hearing protection may be required).

Tools and Equipment

ØCompany provided computer, copier, fax/scanner, phone, and other typical office equipment.

ØTest and measuring equipment such as tensile tester, calipers, micrometers, etc.

Travel

ØMinimal – less than 5% of the time

Physical and Mental Demands

ØFrequently required to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time.

ØAbility to work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.

ØDigital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in operation of office equipment.

ØLight lifting and carrying of supplies, files, etc.

ØAbility to speak to and hear employees/clients via phone or in person.

ØBody motor skills sufficient to enable incumbent to move around the office environment.

ØAbility to analyze sourcing data, benefits, and other reports and make recommendations.

ØAdditional Mental Requirements: compare, decide, direct, problem solve, analyze, instruct, and interpret.
