Purpose & Job Related Requirements
Two positions available one in Park Maintenance and one in Custodial Maintenance.
REPORTS TO: Facility and Program Supervisor
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Personnel System - Requires satisfactory completion of asix month probationary period.
PAY GRADE: 110
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes; Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to assist in the performance of custodial services, grounds maintenance and limited building maintenance. . Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training, supervising, and securing assigned inmate crew members; providing technical expertise in the performance of duties, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with some weekends, holidays, and special events required.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
High school diploma or equivalent with one year general maintenance or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or have ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
May be required to complete security training for the supervision of inmate workers as set forth by the Georgia Department of Corrections Standard Operating Procedures within six months of date of hire or first available opportunity.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Trains, directs, and supervises inmates on work detail and ensures compliance with State laws and rules regarding inmate supervision; provides for and ensures safety and security of inmates.
Manages the completion of daily work orders from the Park Services Supervisor; prepares necessary equipment needed and orders/picks up all crew-related supplies from the Leisure Services warehouse.
Provides technical expertise required to perform custodial services, buildings, grounds, and equipment maintenance and repairs.
Assists with the training of employees in the safe use of maintenance equipment and supplies.
Performs other related duties as required.
When Assigned to Park Maintenance
Assists crews in the completion of assigned work orders for the repair and maintenance of facility buildings and grounds.
Assists crew with the inspection of all department facilities for compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and local building code laws, policies and procedures.
Oversees and assists crews in the performance of pool maintenance.

When Assigned to Custodial Maintenance
Oversees and assists crews in the completion of assigned work orders for the cleaning of facility buildings and grounds.
Completes all scheduled custodial services, grounds, and building maintenance to the standards set by Leisure Services Department within the time scheduled.
Assists crews with the preparation for departmental special events and rentals including the delivery, set-up and break down of the Show mobile and/or 20 x 20 tents as well as barricades and other related equipment requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of the Leisure Services Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Maintenance Worker II.
Knowledge of building, grounds and custodial maintenance and practices; departmental rules and regulations; and various cleaning chemical and procedures as required in the performance of daily duties.
Knowledge of established organizational, managerial, and human relations methods and techniques.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with subordinates, management, employees, members of the general public, and all other groups involved in the activities of the Leisure Services Department.
Ability to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner.
Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in managing subordinates including the handling of emergency situations, determining and deciding upon procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards, and resolving problems.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information.
Ability to handle required mathematical calculations.
Ability to operate department motor vehicles, drill press, front end loader/tractor, ATV's, Big John, ditch witch, and carpentry, mechanics, electrical, landscaping and plumbing tools, two-way radio, and trail construction equipment.
Ability to wear and properly use a respirator as outlined by manufacturer guidelines.

(ADA) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a Double Cab motor vehicle, drill press, front end loader/tractor, ATV's, ditch witch, and carpentry, mechanics, electrical, landscaping, and plumbing tools. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. This position requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of heavy work.
DATA CONCEPTION: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.
INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability to hear, speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving / receiving assignments and/or directions to co-workers or assistants / from supervisors.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Requires the ability to read a variety of work logs, equipment logs, invoices, and government or correctional manuals and informational documentation, directions, instructions, and methods and procedures. Requires the ability to prepare invoices, incident reports, community service sheets, and work and equipment logs using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to groups of people with poise, voice control, and confidence.
INTELLIGENCE: Requires the ability to learn and understand basic principles and techniques, to acquire and be able to expound on knowledge of topics related to primary occupation, and to make independent judgment in the absence of management.
VERBAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of administrative, technical, or professional languages including mechanical and electrical terminology.
NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas, to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, and to utilize and determine percentages.
FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape, visually with construction, mechanical, and electrical tools.
MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands, fingers, and eyes accurately in using construction, mechanics, carpentry, landscaping, plumbing, and electrical equipment. Requires the ability to lift, bend, push, pull, manipulate equipment/tools and objects as the position necessitates.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as a Double Cab motor vehicle, drill press, front end loader/tractor, ATV's, ditch witch, and carpentry, mechanics, electrical, landscaping, and plumbing tools. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
