Position Summary
This position performs manual work in the custodial care of Fortson 4-H Center buildings and facilities. This includes cleaning and caring for building areas. Buildings include venues, cabins, and other units located on the Center. The primary responsibility is for the effective use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and building setups. The individual works without close supervision and follows well established routines and procedures. The person in this role participates as a member of the Fortson 4-H Center Staff.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to clean, sanitizes, and do extensive housekeeping task.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client base; young children to adults.
  • Ability to provide food service for large groups of people.
  • Ability to work long hours, on feet in a hot commercial kitchen.
  • Ability to move 20 pounds at a time.
  • Ability to effectively market and promote programs.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken communication.
  • Adequate computer skills.
  • Trained in or willingness to be trained in CPR/FA/AED.
  • Trained in or willingness to be trained in ServSafe food preparation course.
Physical Demands
  • Climb stairs and ladders; bend at the waist and knees.
  • Lift and move items weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Work from a ladder and work with arms and hands overhead.
  • Work long hours at manual tasks in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.

  • Prepares and cleans cabins and meeting spaces based on guest's request, including making beds, setting tables and chairs.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuuming floors.
  • Clean counters, mirrors, and restrooms.
  • Replenishes supplies in supply closets as well as restrooms.
  • Empty trash.

  • Cleaning public areas, restrooms, and drinking fountains.
  • Including administration office, dining hall, chapel and other public areas.
  • Assist with routine and quarterly cleaning such as washing windows, wiping baseboards, shampooing carpet, and dusting.

  • Operate laundry; sorting, washing, drying, folding and storing linens.
  • Prepare linens based on guest's request.
