Summary: The extruder operator is responsible for the operation of the production machines. This position requires experience and training. Follow standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs typical machine shop operations to support the assembly floor for the cove base and accessory line.
• Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Responsible for installing the dies, preparing all auxiliary conditions and equipment such as the cutter, and conveyor belt; this is done with very little or no supervision.
• Able to adjust or change conditions as necessary in order to produce good quality parts and products.
• Able to change and adjust operating conditions such as heat, pressure, screw and conveyor speed, and cooling system to maintain proper quality.
• Must maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
• Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on the machines as needed.
• Must be familiar with the basic machines function in order to perform the tasks stated above and may operate pallet jacks.
• Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance with regards to machine set-up.
• Other tasks that are necessarily and not limited to those defined above may be performed.
• Reliable consistent attendance and the ability to perform overtime as requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or (GED), or one to two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
