Department Technician (Medical)

ATC Healthcare of MidMichigan is looking for an experienced, professional Department Technician in Jackson, Michigan. This position is responsible for communicating with vendors and agencies in the community to secure post release services for inmates in the MAT program (Medically Assisted Treatment). The position is inside the prison health care clinic with prisoner contact and is 832 hours (~6 months) in length with the potential for an extension.

Preferred skills: Experience in the medical field. Microsoft office, organization, work independently, decision making.

Location: RGC - Reception and Guidance Center, Jackson MI (and other various locations in Michigan)

Schedule: M - F 0800 - 1630 up to 832 hours annually (with potential for extension)

Dept Tech Responsibilities:

• Conduct phone interviews, Microsoft Teams meetings and have direct contact with prisoners to confirm and collect accurate information for pending paroles involved in the MAT programming.
• Contact Pre-Paid Inpatient Health Plans (PIHPs) and other community agencies to secure appropriate MAT follow-up and appointments.
• Accurately exchange information with other departments within the MDOC systems, including tracking and sharing data with the MDOC Program Manager.
• Confirming prisoner is Medicaid eligible, and providing information to prisoner and community agencies.
• Responsible for tracking of paroling prisoners and providing monthly statistics to appropriate MDOC staff.
• Attend meetings, trainings and care conferences as required.
• Notify MDOC Parole Officers of upcoming paroles and MAT participation, along with communicating planned aftercare information, including dates/times of appointments for MAT treatment in community.
• Collaborate with MDOC Parole Officers if/when difficulties occur with appointments and PIHPs/Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs).
• Other duties as assigned.

Dept Tech Job Requirements:

• Must have BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association ( AHA ) or American Red Cross
• Encouraged to be COVID Vaccinated or have exemption
• Must have 3 recent references
• Must pass all background screenings and required health screenings
• A high school diploma or equivalent
