We currently have an immediate full-time position opening for a Director of Strategy & Operations located in City of Industry, California.

Job Summary:

The Director of Strategy & Operations is responsible for driving daily/weekly/monthly operational targets and achieving results on critical projects and initiatives. Plays a leadership role in achieving desired business outcomes for projects of high importance to the business. Works daily with COO and provides regular updates on operational targets, progress of priority projects, and any risks or escalations. Collaborates cross-functionally with other departments and stakeholders to drive project success and business efficiency. Maximizes processes and procedures across the organization and supports the creation of prepared materials, content and programs for COO. Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with COO to design strategic and operational objectives and define measurable KPI’s
  • Support creation of prepared materials (documents, financial projections, pricing spreadsheets, reports, slide deck presentations etc.) for COO
  • Compile regular reports on operational targets, quality, roadblocks and overall KPI performance
  • Execute on 3-5 priority assignments at a time, ranging from new project pricing and proposals, important customer communications, organizational realignments etc.
    • Create pricing projections, prepare project timelines and written proposals
    • Manage project related budgets and forecasts
    • Communicate with Sales Directors and key customers on project progress, logistics and any delays
    • Collaborate with Engineering and Marketing on product launches, product improvements, timelines and operational roll-out across organization
  • Exercise autonomy in proactively leading a project 
    • Practice smart discretion in decision making and know when to ask for input and escalate to COO
    • Enter projects of great complexity at any point in execution and successfully align key stakeholders and steward toward results
  • Manages relationships with internal and external organizations to ensure delivery alignment with key business initiatives
  • Examine department and project financial data and identify ways to optimize and improve profitability
    • Ensure cost-effective decision making while also meeting deadlines, product quality and customer expectations
  • Improve and maximize operational management systems, processes, procedures and best practices
    • Identify procedural gaps in existing workflows and work to resolve with data, optimization, automation, and training programs and materials
    • Perform quality control checks and monitor production KPIs
  • Fills in gaps in other areas of business where there are short term vacancies or lack of relevant skills/capacity and assist with recruitment of valuable individuals
  • Perform additional essential job duties as requested by management

Required Education and Experience:

  • MBA or MSF in-person education from accredited university
  • 7 years of experience in strategy and operations, or development program across multiple departments or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Evidence of success in leading key business initiatives. Demonstrated ability to take a project from ideation through to implementation
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Familiarity with business and financial principles, experience budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience making data-driven decisions
  • Detail-oriented problem solver and forward thinker
  • Ability to influence cross-functionally without direct authority
  • Excellent written, verbal, and technical communicator
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with competing timelines and deliverables
  • Familiarity with the industry a plus
  • Valid passport, Global Entry or Sentry with ability to travel internationally to visit customers or other Astrophysics offices as required
