Astro Industries is Hiring a Safety Specialist Near Odessa, TX

Job Description: The primary responsibilities and duties of the Safety Specialist role in the industrial/oilfield construction environment. This may include tasks such as conducting safety inspections, developing and implementing safety policies and procedures, conducting safety training sessions, investigating accidents or incidents, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of worksites, equipment, and procedures to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees, subcontractors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and other safety-related activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, and make recommendations for improvements as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety-related issues and concerns.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to occupational health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are a plus
  • Previous experience in industrial or oilfield construction environments, knowledge of specific safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA), or experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate others on safety procedures.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and develop proactive safety measures.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
