Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our healthcare team. As an OR RN, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care during surgical procedures. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to safe and successful surgical outcomes for our patients.
Responsibilities:
Preoperative Preparation:Assess and review patient medical histories, medications, and allergies to ensure their safety during surgery.
Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare the operating room, ensuring it is sterile and properly equipped.
Verify surgical consent forms, surgical site markings, and patient identification prior to the start of the procedure.
Intraoperative Care:Assist the surgical team in setting up and maintaining a sterile field throughout the procedure.
Monitor the patient's vital signs, anesthesia administration, and provide support during the surgical procedure.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, ensuring the availability of required instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Administer medications and assist with anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
Postoperative Care:Collaborate with the recovery room or post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) team to ensure a smooth transition of care for the patient.
Monitor the patient's postoperative vital signs, pain levels, and overall recovery progress.
Provide postoperative education and instructions to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions.
Documentation and Communication:Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all perioperative activities, including patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Communicate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring seamless coordination of care.
Collaborate with nursing staff, healthcare providers, and other multidisciplinary team members to provide optimal patient care.
Safety and Quality Assurance:Adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols related to infection control, aseptic technique, and patient safety.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the enhancement of patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Stay updated with advancements in surgical techniques, equipment, and evidence-based practices, implementing them into practice as appropriate.
