Job Title: Labor and Delivery Night Nurse

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Labor and Delivery Night Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of experience in labor and delivery nursing and will be responsible for providing exceptional care to mothers and newborns during the night shift. The Labor and Delivery Night Nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby throughout the labor and delivery process.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide comprehensive nursing care to pregnant women during labor and delivery, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.

2. Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and maternal vital signs, recognizing and responding promptly to any signs of distress or complications.

3. Assist with the management of labor, including administering medications, performing cervical exams, and providing emotional support to laboring mothers.

4. Assist obstetricians and midwives during labor, delivery, and postpartum procedures, including cesarean sections and episiotomies.

5. Provide education and support to mothers and families regarding childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

6. Monitor and care for newborn infants immediately following delivery, including assessment of vital signs, initiation of breastfeeding, and administration of medications or treatments as necessary.

7. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system.

8. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthesiologists, and pediatricians, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.

9. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines.

10. Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

1. Current RN license in CA.

2. Minimum of one year of experience in labor and delivery nursing.

3. BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.

4. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification preferred.

5. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients and their families during a vulnerable time.

7. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.

8. Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

2. Ability to lift and move patients and equipment as necessary.

3. Visual and auditory acuity to assess patients and respond to alarms and signals.

4. Manual dexterity to perform nursing procedures and operate medical equipment.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits package may include health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and continuing education opportunities.
