POSITION SUMMARY:
Under routine supervision, supports the company’s commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment by adhering to company policy and government regulations. Assures the workplace is free from danger, risk/injury. Develops/implements programs to minimize losses due to injuries and property damage while eliminating on-site unsafe practices/conditions. Ensures compliance with all local/state/federal regulations. Primary contact for all safety/health activities within assigned areas of responsibility.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develops/implements/trains/monitors teams on safety/health programs to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
· Lead, champion and deploy the HSE policies and procedures throughout the site
· Develop and implement the site HSE I plan to meet the objectives for site
· Report and manage all incidents with appropriate agencies and site leadeship
· Ensure statutory compliance of the site
· Set targets for site HSE performance
· Provide reports as required on site HSE performance
· Manage Risk Assessment activities at the site, identifying hazards and aspects
· Support Health and Safety and Environmental site certifications as required
· Leads employees in company safety program(s) including orientation/training to support environmental/safety/health site objectives. Facilitates EHS programs to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations. Ability to explain company safety/health policies to employees, visitors, and contractors.
· Reviews new machinery/equipment plans/specifications/inspections to ensure safety requirements/applicable regulations. Coordinates the installation of safety devices to ensure compliance.
· Performs safety/health assessments including industrial hygiene, ergonomics, and machinery to identify/prevent/correct hazards to employees/materials/machines/environment. Conducts safety assessments as necessary.
· Experience maintaining/implementing ISO14001/45001 management systems to ensure regulatory requirements are met for successful recertification.
· Ability to manage COVID-19 recordkeeping, contact tracing and enforce best practices to mitigate exposure within the workplace.
· Manages EHS recordkeeping/reporting and represents companies involving regulatory (Cal/OSHA, ANSI, OCSD, SCAQMD, SWRCB, and DOT, etc.) compliance concerns arise including inspections/notices/complaints. Maintains site certifications. Provides safety/health performance reporting at local/corporate level.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in occupational/Environmental Health and Safety or Environmental Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
