Assured Information Security is Hiring a Remote Remote Software Engineer III

Description

Assured Information Security is looking for a remote Software Engineer with an affinity for technical writing! In this role, you'll leverage your experience developing software to create and update a highly technical suite of documentation for the SecureView product.

How You'll Succeed

You'll succeed by developing, debugging, and testing different software solutions with limited oversight from senior technical staff. You'll investigate and solve technical issues both individually and as a contributing team member. You'll also develop technical documentation for software including user manuals, procedures, specifications, test plans, white papers, design documents, technology description documents, and training materials. You'll oversee all revisions made to the SecureView documentation set resulting from client requests and/or software updates. Your additional responsibilities will include:

  • Executing usability testing and creating software documentation based on first-hand experience
  • Selecting, creating, and editing images for use in documents
  • Accurately estimating the duration and effort required for short tasks
  • Contributing to status reports and accurately communicating status to Team Leads
  • Planning and execution of tasks in support of ongoing technical documentation projects with a focus on the improvement of existing documentation
  • Participating in Red Team reviews of proposals and task orders
  • Providing periodic reporting on the status of new document generation/revisions to management
  • Reviewing and editing all customer deliverable documentation for usability, consistency, and accuracy
  • Supporting the creation of training courses, presentations, agendas, course schedules, and other supporting materials
  • Contributing technical content to contract proposals and task orders
  • Evaluating tasks and deliverables for technical quality and ensuring that technical standards are being met
  • Participating in design and architecture discussions

Who You Are

You're a motivated problem solver looking to challenge yourself while working in a fast-paced and agile development environment. You thrive at translating technical information into an easily digestible narrative that non-technical customers easily understand. You enjoy applying research methods to collect relevant information to provide original content to documentation sets. You're able to assist with user interface testing and usability evaluations.

Your Expertise

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field of study
  • You have 5 years' experience working with programming languages such as C/C
  • You have 5 years' experience developing in an object-oriented environment
  • You have 3 years of technical writing experience
  • You have 2 years of experience gaining a deep technical understanding of a product/software and creating initial technical documentation without a pre-existing foundation or framework available
  • You have 2 years of experience analyzing documents to maintain a single voice and writing style
  • You have 2 years' experience working in a Linux environment
  • You have 2 years' knowledge of Python, Bash, or other scripting languages
  • You have 3 years of experience taking highly technical data and information and translating the content for an appropriate audience
  • You have the ability to obtain/retain a Top Secret security clearance
  • You have the ability to travel less than 10%, as needed

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with secure software development practices
  • Familiarity with cross-domain systems, virtualization, and VDI environments
  • Ability to understand and describe highly technical software systems
  • Experience writing proposals, white papers, and technical designs/documentation
  • Knowledge of DoD environment, systems, and applications
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-53 and/or Raise the Bar (RTB) security controls
  • Bug/issue tracking software (Jira)
  • Version control software (git/bitbucket)

The ImpactAIS is a leading cyber and information security company supporting mission critical operations across the DoD, intelligence community, commerce and beyond. Our roots trace back to the very beginnings of cybersecurity research, when a group of hackers worked around a pool table until they became profitable enough to order office furniture. They hung a pirate flag on the wall to represent their decision to do things differently. Those pioneers started AIS because they not only believed in the potential of the industry, but the necessity to provide the United States with the offensive and defensive capabilities needed to gain the high ground in cyber warfare.

Decades later, the pirate flag waves tall outside of our headquarters, and we continue to develop and envision technologies that protect our nation and our warfighters. The challenge is that there is no end in sight. We're looking for the best and brightest people to support our mission. When you join our team, no matter your role, you'll be contributing to the security of our nation and our way of life.

The Culture You're not just a number here. Founded in 2001, AIS is a privately-owned company committed to excellence in all facets. We pride ourselves on offering some of the best benefits seen in the industry and ensuring our brilliant team members have exciting, challenging, and impactful work and a fun, values-driven environment to collaborate in. We celebrate the unique backgrounds and experiences of our people and encourage new ideas, innovation, and the autonomy to create the future and career they want with our support.
