ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY CHICO is Hiring a Student Ambassador Near Chico, CA

Associated Students (AS) is a comprehensive campus auxiliary corporation of CSU, Chico serving thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members through myriad student programs, services and business enterprises. AS operates residential and retail dining services, the Bell Memorial Union (BMU), and the Wildcat Recreation Center (WREC). Additionally, the AS offers a wide variety of services and programs such as: CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education), the Child Development Lab, Adventure Outings, Operation Programs and Services (OPS), Sustainability and student government.

Associated Students is now hiring for the position of Student Ambassador. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position that will work no more than 20 hours per week while school is in session. The pay rate is $16.00 per hour. The schedule for this position is based upon department needs and is subject to change at any time. To be eligible for student employment, you must be enrolled at CSU, Chico and maintain at least 6 units (undergraduate student) or 4 units (graduate student) throughout the course of employment.

SUMMARY

The Student Event Ambassador position aims to increase awareness and engagement AS programs and events. Our goal is to provide our event participants with a consistently high level of engaging activities and create a positive experience through our events. Student Event Ambassadors will play a crucial role in event outreach, set-up, and participation during events. Individuals in this position will be highly motivated and thrive in a team environment.

This position is event-driven and working hours will vary based on departmental needs. This may include evenings and weekends. Students interested in this position must be available for mandatory training the week of August 19-23. Specific dates and times are to be determined. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Working directly under the supervision of the Events and Program Manager, this position will support programmatic goals. The position will work in several capacities, including but not limited to outreach, event preparation, and event support. 

This position will have a large focus on outreach before, during and after events to increase engagement and partnership for AS events, gather feedback from students and assess our event programs. Outreach would include but not be limited to:

  • Tabling on campus and at community events
  • Academic groups and class talks
  • Presentations to relevant campus clubs, fraternities and sororities, campus organizations and departments, etc.
  • Supporting social media content creation, working in collaboration with AS Marketing & Design
  • Focused emails to student groups, clubs, and academic departments.
  • In-person canvasing of campus, downtown businesses and residential neighborhoods

Attendance and participation in AS events are a requirement of the position as your schedule allows

  • Register or RSVP in a timely manner for events.
  • Attend a minimum of 6 AS events per semester.
  • Actively participate in events to promote and encourage others to participate during events.
  • Complete all feedback forms pertaining to events attended.

Assist with the post-event debriefs to measure success. 

  • Attend and actively participate in post-event meetings.
  • Provide feedback based on event experience.
  • Discuss elements that went well and areas for improvement.

Work is performed across campus including outside with exposure to weather conditions. Participation in various activities, events, meetings and/or training which include evenings and/or weekends may be required.
