Associated General Contractors of Minnesota is Hiring a Director of Professional Education and Outreach Programs Near Saint Paul, MN

The Director of Professional Education and Outreach Programs will focus on building and supporting AGC of Minnesota’s curriculum of professional development and education programs, managing the AGC Foundation, and supporting the scholarship program and related outreach activities.

The position requires creativity, high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, problem solving and organization skills, initiative, and the ability to inspire. The Director will be a self-starter, expected to understand the construction market, needs of students and instructors, and opportunities for students to develop in the industry; to seize opportunities to build meaningful education programs; and to create and maintain education and industry solutions to further industry and student development.

Build and Manage Curriculum Content (60%)

The Director will develop and maintain, directly and collaboratively with other staff, AGC members, and others, the curriculum for AGC’s professional education programs and seminars. Specific duties include:

  • Managing and directing resources who will help develop or perform the content.
  • Receiving feedback from participants and members about each program’s effectiveness and opportunities to improve.
  • Coordinating location, times, and other logistical details for each program class.
  • Attending classes to ensure facilities coordination, build cohort identity, and assist with program delivery tasks.
  • Communicating with participants and alumni of the programs including assessing students’ performance, counseling, receiving feedback, and maintaining student records and certifications.
  • Identifying and securing program content as a lead role in managing the annual AGC Construction Summit.
  • Serving as lead liaison to program alumni.
  • Operating programs to budget with a positive or neutral ROI.

Outreach(20%)

The Director will communicate and coordinate with AGC members, other associations, and industry partners to raise funds, recruit participants into AGC programs, and develop outreach campaigns and events to raise awareness and funding. Specific duties include:

  • Raising funds to support the education programs, content development and maintenance, and scholarships.
  • Developing and designing education and marketing resources for each program including promotional publications such as e-newsletters, social media posts, and personal appearances at community events etc.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with diverse communities and organizations to expand access to quality education experiences, foster interest in personal growth, and strengthen AGC’s brand identity and relationships.
  • Promoting relationships with colleges and universities to establish and sustain AGC Student Chapters, and providing opportunities for Student Chapter members to engage in AGC programs and events.
  • Providing opportunities for members to participate or engage in industry education through newsletter contributions, editorials, performance of content, and other ways.
  • Managing community outreach budget and track ROI and other data to determine effectiveness of community outreach tactics and create a positive ROI for the education programs.

AGC of Minnesota Foundation (20%)

The Director will manage and administer the AGC of Minnesota Foundation – a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity. Specific duties include:

  • Administering the AGC scholarship program including marketing, creating criteria, evaluating applicants, and awarding scholarships.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program that grows and sustains the Foundation fund balance.
  • Meet with members and other donors to promote AGC Foundation giving opportunities.
  • Lead and direct current member events that support the AGC Foundation and identify new and creative opportunities that support and facilitate donor giving.
  • Work closely with the Foundation Board of Directors to identify strategic directions and supportive tasks that enhance the visibility and presence of the AGC Foundation among members and the larger construction community.

In addition, the Director will collaborate with staff on Director’s duties and other issues affecting the industry or AGC and perform other duties as assigned by AGC’s CEO. The Director will report to the AGC CEO.

The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary degree in a relevant field. Experience with fundraising, continuing/distance education, and/or the construction industry is desirable but not required.
