Position Description:
Under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. The Plant Controller is responsible for planning and coordinating plant budget and business planning activities in alignment with corporate policies and practices. The Plant Controller is also responsible for all system and physical components of inventory management across multiple sites. This position monitors plant operation results against operating plans and direct preparation of financial, production output, and other reports used to measure and control plant activities and costs. Leads the plant financial and capital budgeting process. Additionally, the Plant Controller recommends and implements programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
Essential Functions/Accountabilities:
Inventory Management & Cost Accounting
Manage month end close, prepare journal entries as necessary, and analyze inventory valuation and inventory roll forward
Implement and monitor the month, quarter and year-end close
Maintain accurate inventory records at the plant storage facilities as well as third party warehouses
Analyze plant labor, scrap, operational spending, and inventory transactions for optimal manufacturing levels
Reporting
Report to management findings and recommendations related to the plant operations
Budget to actual reporting
Preparation of daily/weekly/monthly plant performance reports
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree and 10-plus years’ experience; CPA/CMA preferred
Solid understanding of GAAP, financial statements, including cash flow and full-disclosure footnotes
Thorough knowledge costing in a manufacturing environment
Experience in accounting for multiple, related entities is a plus
Ability to identify deficiencies and recommend and implement solutions
Successful candidate will be highly motivated, a self-starter, driven, flexible, and a genuine team player.
