Location: Austin, TX

Description

The Revenue Cycle Trainer is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of training and support for employees and end users involved in revenue cycle activities. This position will identify training needs and map out learning and development plans along with documenting workflows for the department. The Revenue Cycle Trainer is accountable for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in developing, coordinating and integrating staff education, training, competencies, professional practices and quality audit processes in the revenue cycle setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and maintain departmental policies, procedures & processes in conjunction with Revenue Cycle Leadership.
  • Examines business and procedural workflows to identify weaknesses in proposed or established flows and suggests alternatives as necessary.
  • Develop, maintain, and update training curriculum for onboarding and ongoing revenue cycle staff.
  • Coordinates and provides appropriate training for new and current employees to meet initial and ongoing educational needs and competency requirements.
  • Perform initial, 90 day and assistance with annual competencies for staff.
  • Evaluates the ongoing training needs of all revenue cycle staff and provides mentoring and coaching as needed.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations, demonstrations, and special training courses as needed.
  • Provides auditing, monitoring, and workflow assistance to ensure adherence to revenue cycle best practices.
  • Reviews monthly reports of performance metrics with Revenue Cycle Leadership.
  • Understands the life cycle of a medical billing claim and how to improve the revenue cycle process.
  • Expertise in effective claim follow-up, patient follow-up, and denial resolution with payers.
  • Ensures that the activities of the Revenue Cycle operations are conducted in a manner that is consistent with overall department protocol, and are in compliance with Federal, State, and payer regulations, guidelines, and requirements. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all health information management issues such as HIPAA and all health regulations. 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Train and coach, all employees assigned to the Revenue Cycle department.
  • Assist in annual reviews and the documentation of any required disciplinary action, and coach/counsel staff.
  • Monitor and report on productivity of all employees through use of data analytics.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail. 
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism and be able to work in a high-pressure environment with multiple departments.
  • Drive to take initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate when appropriate.
  • Excellent Leadership and staff management skills.
  • Excellent time management skills are essential along with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of interactive teams within the organization. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in Revenue Cycle required.
  • Must have prior billing and/or follow-up experience in healthcare.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial payer guidelines.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in PC applications as required. Required to learn and facilitate training of most systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills required.
  • Must be able to work and interact with other employees in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Demonstrate highly engaging facilitation skills in a variety of learning environments to ensure effectiveness and accuracy in engaging audiences with diverse skill sets and learning needs. 
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and maintain working relationships within the department and across all business units to foster a team environment.
  • Thorough understanding of the full Revenue Cycle process.
