Expectations for a Senior Mechanical Engineer are:
- Execute projects in all areas of mechanical engineering including conceptual design to installation engineering services, estimating, equipment specification, detailed design, equipment inspection, field installation, and start-ups inclusive of client interaction.
- Specify equipment such as vessels, exchangers, pumps, and other process equipment.
- Develop alternatives to a project that brings value to the client.
- Perform process flow diagram mapping.
- Perform stress and/or flex analysis using software such as Caesar or Fathom.
- Comply with all applicable standards and industry codes.
- Lead a mechanical project team in the planning, scheduling, engineering, and design execution of the projects from start to finish. Determine the mechanical scope for projects, manage schedules, budgets, maintain changes and effectively communicate changes to the team.
- Interact with the client; attend client meetings and internal team meetings.
- Mentor Junior Engineers
Required Qualifications:
- BSME with a minimum of 10 years' experience needed in the oil refinery, power plant and/or steel manufacturing industries required. IN/IL PE licenses needed. Master of Engineering is another advantage.
- Knowledge of ASME codes
- Background in HVAC, heat exchangers, steam generation, equipment specifications and pipe routing is key.
- Ability to work in the field.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be detail orientated.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate with other team members and prepare reports.
