POSITION PURPOSE / SUMMARY STATEMENT (defines the major functions/purpose of the position):

The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and administration of employee wellness and employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, voluntary benefits, leave of absence and 401K plan.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (include titles of positions directly reporting to this position):

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Interacts with all levels throughout organization including employees and outside vendors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate employee data and benefits-related records across company HRIS and benefits platforms.
  • Process enrollments, changes, beneficiary changes, life events, and terminations of participants in all benefit plans, including payroll deductions and adjustments.
  • Interface with employees and vendors to resolve issues, answer questions and communicate benefits information. Assist employees in understanding their benefits options and resolve basic issues or concerns.
  • Assists with projects related to benefits such as wellness initiatives, health fair planning, employee engagement events, and quarterly engagement challenges.
  • Maintain Wellness Platform and Wellness Program including employee enrollments, activity tracking, activity creation, and communications to drive participation.
  • Analyze, audit, reconcile, and process insurance invoices. Escalate complex billing issues when appropriate.
  • Support open enrollment process annually including system set up in the company’s systems.
  • Develop and/or facilitate employee communications to build awareness around benefits offerings.
  • Conduct new hire benefit orientation as needed and assist employees with initial benefit enrollment, changes in coverage and claim issues.
  • Assist in the implementation of benefits projects and initiatives. Provide support in researching and evaluating new benefit programs or improvements to existing ones.
  • Stays up to date on state and federal regulations concerning insurance and other employee benefits.
  • Other tasks/assignments as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Possesses knowledge of benefits, employment, and workers’ compensation laws.
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of different health insurance plans, including HMOs and PPOs.
  • Exhibits the ability to maintain relations with insurance and healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers, and management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective and efficient multi-tasking skills
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Strong customer service skills
  • High proficiency in MS Office with a focus on Excel
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Analytical ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Adheres to all Company Policies & Procedures and Safety Regulations.
  • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws.
  • Some travel throughout the domestic United States and Internationally.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years of experience in HR with benefit experience procedures.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience with Office 365 applications (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience with LOA administration is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of HRIS such as SuccessFactors and ADP a plus.
