ACRS seeks a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in our Behavioral Health department who provides skilled psychiatric care and ensures continuity of care as part of the Medical Services Team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Performs direct psychiatric functions: assessment and diagnosis of new consumers; prescribes psychiatric medications; medication monitoring; consults with other ACRS medical staff and case managers regarding client care; coordinates referrals to other care providers; performs or assists in crisis intervention.
• Provides in-service education and consultation to ACRS staff, as requested.
• Participates in staff meetings and consultations as schedule permits.
• Other job-related duties as agreed upon with management (e.g. may perform consultation to nursing homes, etc).

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• MSN or DNP in psychiatric nursing and minimum three (3) years experience in psychiatric medicine including one (1) year minimum in community mental health.
• Advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority. (Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health).
• Knowledge of major psychiatric disorders, psychotropic medications including indications, contraindications, dosages and treatment of side effects. Knowledge of county mental health system preferred, but not required.
• Must have assessment skills necessary for prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication and basic physical assessment skills necessary for appropriate referral of clients to medical providers.
• Must have Crisis intervention skills and be able to work with interpreters and bilingual/bicultural clinical case managers.
• Ability to provide effective and respectful service to employees, visitors and clients of diverse cultural beliefs and practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Regularly required to walk; use hands and arms to reach and operate objects, tools, or controls. Must occasionally lift up to/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some work will be performed offsite (e.g. home visits or external meetings). The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
