Ascent has been widely recognized for its strong culture – named “Best Places to Work” by the San Diego Business Journal for the past 5 years – and as an industry leader – named “Best Student Loan” by NerdWallet for the past 3 years. Job Description: The Account Manager, School Partnerships position is a full-time position that will be reporting to the Vice President of Business Development. This position is responsible for building and maintaining strong and positive relationships with our partner schools. The role is focused on the highest level of customer service with an additional focus on business development and growing accounts through upselling, program development, and cross-selling opportunities. Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with all core customers at existing schools as well as new partner schools.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for new school onboarding and new product implementations.
  • Identify opportunities to grow business with existing partner schools.
  • Act as the main point of contact to answer inquiries from both partner schools and provide expert level support to the schools on the loan application and funding processes from beginning to end.
  • Manage projects within the partner school relationship, working to carry out school requests while meeting company goals.
  • Communicate partner school needs and demands internally to team members and ensure partner schools receive requested products and services in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate with team members working with the same partner schools to ensure consistent and streamlined service.
  • Oversee and assist in delivery of key reporting and operational processes including loan certification, escrow processing and reconciliation, disbursements, and refunds as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc data requests from schools and fellow colleagues.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 1-3 years of account management role and/or 2-4 years of customer service experience.
  • Proven track record of cultivating positive relationships amongst client accounts, co-workers, and management.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate resources and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, as well as attentiveness to details and a commitment to follow up.
  • The ability to apply creative problem-solving techniques to situations using sound business judgment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Docs, with extensive knowledge of MS Excel.
Bonus points if you Have:
  • Experience working in financial services, student lending, or at a skills training school
  • Sales experience (inside or outside sales)
  • CRM aptitude, HubSpot experience a bonus.
