Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver is Hiring a Reading Interventionist-Classical Charter School-Brighton Near Brighton, CO

Job Title: Reading Interventionist

Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND)- Brighton, CO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Dean of Grammar School

Work Days: Part-time (20 to 30 hours per week) during school days (between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.) and staff work days during the school year. This position could be full-time.

Wage Range:$20-25 hourly

Desired Start Date: August 5, 2024*

  • Please note that this position would be expected to attend literacy training with K-3 teachers in Hillsdale, Michigan, for up to 5 days in June. Travel to the conference, food, and lodging will be covered by ACAND and HIllsdale College.

Join Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver, located at its growing campus in Brighton, CO, just 3 miles from I-25. ACAND is a growing school of over 200 students that offers grades K-8 for the 2024-45 with plans to expand to K-12 by adding one grade per year and is looking to grow our student services team. Ascent Classical Academies is dedicated to students' intellectual and moral betterment and encourages staff to take their own moral and intellectual improvement seriously as part of a supportive and excellence-driven culture.

ACAND is seeking a qualified Reading Interventionist for the 2024-2025 school year.

We are looking for someone with high standards of excellence, a professional demeanor, and a can-do attitude to join our team and help us build for the future. The ideal candidate will be a results-driven team player with the capacity to manage multiple projects and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Promote the school's mission and vision for classical education
  • Support primary teachers in the appropriate identification of students in kindergarten through grade 6 needing reading intervention
  • Provide one-on-one and small group reading instruction to students needing reading intervention
  • Work with classroom teachers to push into the class for reading support as needed
  • Plan and use appropriate, research-based instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of identified students in the area of reading
  • Use assessment data to drive instructional decisions on a daily basis
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans and small group activities consistent with Colorado State standards, current research methodology, and classical pedagogy
  • Complete benchmark assessments as well as progress monitoring in compliance with the READ Act
  • Provide students with specific evaluative feedback
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents
  • Perform related duties as required

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Master's Degree is a bonus but not required
  • School experience
  • Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools
  • Commitment to classical education and to the high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
  • Knowledge of classical education (or the willingness and desire to learn)
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, superior organization, and computer skills
  • Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Willingness to complete other related duties as requested
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
  • After an offer is accepted, a satisfactory background check as required by state law and Colorado Department of Education

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, or standing
  • Must be able to supervise outdoor activities

Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools, Inc. (ACACS) is a network of public charter schools in Colorado comprised of four campuses. The governing Board of Directors at ACACS has contracted with Minga Education Group (MEG) to provide employment services for all staff at ACACS. Through this partnership, MEG provides employment services, a personnel system for human resources, benefits, payroll services, and access to a 401(k) plan. For naming purposes, Minga Education Group is the employer.
