Teachers enjoy a wide array of resources as they create their own lessons within the content-rich curriculum to engage students in a positive and virtue-imbued learning experience in the liberal arts.
Learning Latin is an intellectual virtue insofar as it is an ongoing practice in linguistic puzzle-solving. Working with a highly structured, inflected language like Latin generally helps students to become close and thoughtful readers and writers. Additionally, as students gain proficiency in translating, they will interact with classic texts in their original languages. The candidate must have a strong background in the Latin language, having majored in classics, classical history, or a related discipline with substantial coursework in Latin. At Ascent Classical Academies, Latin is a required course in grades six through nine, though some students will elect to Latin through their senior year.
