PURPOSE.
The Field Safety Manager interacts with and directly influences the behavior, performance, and knowledge base of our private fleet of CMV operators. Will serve in a consulting role enabling regional, area and local managers to address safety and regulatory issues impacting the transportation operations organization.
This position coaches the transportation safety management process and provides overall support and guidance to operations. Coordinates with the Vice President of Safety in the implementation and training for CMV operators and operations personnel. This position will also drive operational accountability to ensure driver and company compliance with all company and governing regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety.

• Coaching drivers and operation management on all FMCSA regulations, accident prevention and safety/compliance management processes.
• Coach on risk associated behavior.
• Conduct primary root cause analysis/assign preventability for collisions.
• Conduct safety meetings with operational staff.
• Develop and lead non-routine safety and awareness training.
• Ensure driver training is completed with every active driver, including post-accident training.
• Ensure vehicle inspection hands on training is completed with every active driver.
• Ensure load securement training is completed with every active driver.
• Ensure all active drivers/management are trained in ELD and tractor camera operations.
• Ensure all active drivers/managers are trained in accident prevention.
• Ensure all managers are trained on all safety/compliance reporting processes and in the operation of all technology provided for monitoring and reporting
• Auditing all safety and compliance processes and coaching proper execution of these processes.
• Assist with orientation safety presentations.
• Monitor the safety system program.
• Develop reports and analyze data to measure safety performance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS.

• 3 years of direct field safety experience in managing employee/contractor safety & health and environmental & fleet safety management.
• Three years or more OSHA Safety experience Transportation preferred.
• Three years or more evaluating and evaluating employee performance required.
• Ability to travel 50%.
• Smith System Defensive Driving Certification preferred
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Previous OTR experience preferred
• Intermediate spreadsheet, word processing, and other applications skills.
• Good verbal and written communication, reading, organizational, presentation, interpersonal, and team-building skills, reasoning, problem-solving and analytical ability.
