Salary Grade: Grade 16

Position is located at 701 South Main Street in Joplin, Missouri.

Position is Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm with additional hours as needed.

Summary:

SUMMARY: Under the supervision and direction of the Loan Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the effective generation, evaluation, approval, processing, closing and servicing of real estate loans. This person must utilize the bank's available assets to maximize the generation of revenue, profits, deposits, accounts, plus other cross-selling opportunities. The incumbent must also protect the bank's loan assets by providing continual supervision for the loans under his/her accountability. The incumbent is an active participant in outside civic and public relations activities which provides for new business for the bank and further development of established relationships of present customers. The incumbent and other officers implement and market all lending programs and monitor existing accounts to ensure each account is properly serviced.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide direction and manage the real estate/mortgage department at the bank.

  • Coach the real estate lending staff in personnel situations, loan approvals, ARVEST Mortgage liaison, etc.

  • Originate and manage real estate loan portfolio.

  • May manage commercial loan portfolio, loan renewals, new loan requests, past dues, etc., in addition to real estate loans.

  • Provide excellent service to clients of the department.This not only includes customers but realtors, Title Company representatives, appraisers, etc.

  • Perform public speaking at various meetings, Chamber of Commerce events, etc.

  • Ensure all regulatory and internal compliance issues are adhered to in the lending process.

  • Assist with branch administration and sales effort.

  • Develop departmental goals, strategies for achievement, and monitor results.

  • Provide accurate, timely and objective credit analyses to serve as effective guides for loan decisions.

  • Develop and maintain an effective relationship with those sectors of the community which offer a market potential for loans and credits.

  • Review and analyze financial statements.

  • Underwrite loan requests in a prompt manner.

  • Calculate debt servicing, payments and other aspects of a loan.

  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints and/or questions.

  • Attend various officer meetings, peer group sessions, seminars, training programs, schools, etc.

  • Appraise loan collateral as required and monitor to see that the value of collateral is in concert with the bank's loan risk policies.

  • Keep abreast of current and new regulations.

  • Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties. This includes but is not limited to; complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls; report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations and report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.

TEAM ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Cross-sell other services of the bank.

  • Support and uphold the Arvest Mission Statement.

  • Uphold the Arvest Code of Ethics and ensure that confidential information is safeguarded.

  • Maintain a high level of cooperation and rapport with all associates in order to ensure accurate and efficient operations and service.

  • Formulate and communicate new ideas and suggestions that will improve profitability and efficiency for the bank's overall operation.

  • Foster and promote the proper bank image at all times.

  • Maintain involvement in community affairs to foster and promote the proper bank image at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises between four (4) and twelve (12) Real Estate/Mortgage Loan Officers, Loan Assistants, etc. in the Real Estate/Mortgage Lending Department of the bank. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Ensure direct reports have completed required compliance training and are adhering to all internal procedures and controls as it relates to bank policy, laws, regulations and Arvest’s BSA/AML Program. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates. The incumbent has the authority and the appropriate influence to make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other associates within the guidelines of the bank’s procedures and guidelines for such change of status events. The incumbent provides training, planning, assigning, and directing work assignments and schedules; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

  • 5 years previous lending experience required.

  • 5 years managerial experience required.

  • Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or the ability to be registered within 30 days required.

  • Completion of banking classes preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance preferred.
