ArtCenter College of Design is searching for an experienced Art Preparator-part-time on an as-needed basis to join our team.
The salary range for this position: $25.00 - 26.00 per hour

Final salary is based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.

The Art Preparator is responsible for installing and de-installing exhibitions. There may be some weekend hours and evening hours for some installations.

The College’s art preparators are hired aspart-time, temporary staff, on an as-needed basis. Temporary employees havevariable hours and may work for a temporary period due to a short-term need andwhose employment will automatically end when the College determines that theneed for the employee’s services has endedRequired Qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, highly organized, able to balance priorities, takes initiative, reliable and resourceful
  • Demonstrated carpentry skills; general gallery build-out capabilities to include simple wall-framing, drywall mounting and finishing; problem solving abilities related to installation/de-installation of exhibits
  • Experience working with technical equipment such as computers, audio visual and sound
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
  • A commitment to diversity, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within ArtCenter’s diverse communities
  • Ability to handle all information with tact and discretion and recognizes the confidential nature of ArtCenter business

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree from an accredited college or university
  • Construction or fabrication experience
  • Exposure to art and design, museum and/or gallery cultures
  • Proficiency in a second language (other than English)

  • Install and de-install gallery exhibitions
  • Follow safety policies at all times

ArtCenter Employees have a Mandatory Duty to Report

Vaccination Requirement
ArtCenter is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all members of our community. Guided by the latest information from the CDC, the California Department of Public Health and the Pasadena Public Health Department, all staff, students and faculty must provide proof of vaccination. Annual vaccines and/or booster vaccines will be required based on CDC or FDA guidance. Those who cannot get vaccinated for medical or religious reasons will need to provide appropriate documentation.
