Arrowview Animal Hospital is Hiring a Veterinary Technician Near San Bernardino, CA

We are seeking an experienced veterinary technician to join our team!

Must have an open schedule and at least TWO years of experience in the field.

Bilingual, and experience with Avimark is preferred.

If you do not meet the requirements, you will not hear from us.

The perfect candidate will have a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment; is self-motivated and efficient.
This person has to have a passion for veterinary medicine, can effectively utilize down time and multi-task.

Some Technician Duties Include but Not Limited To:

- Admit patients for daily procedures, fill prescriptions written and authorized by DVM, taking vital signs and preparing vaccines, preparing estimates, etc... for DVM once in room.

- Able to collect all lab samples (urine via free catch or cystocentesis, phlebotomy, feces, skin scrapings, etc...), prepare samples to send out or perform in house tests, maintain the laboratory log and equipment.

- Perform all patient treatments ordered by the attending DVM, including medicating, TPR, close observation and charting, monitor intensive care patients, take and develop x-rays, use IV pumps, and anesthesia machines.

- Maintain all surgical equipment, surgery packs, surgical inventory, cold trays, the surgery prep room and surgery suite.

- Once further advanced induce anesthesia and intubate, monitor anesthesia, assess anesthetic risk and communicate clearly to DVM, prepare patient for surgery using hospital procedure, assist in surgery, calculate simple drug dosages related to surgery (that will be reviewed by DVM), assist with patient treatments, monitor patients under anesthesia, assist with critical care emergencies, and keep thorough surgery logs.

- Once further advanced you will perform dental cleanings supervised by DVM. Including scale and polish teeth with dental machine and properly use and disinfect hand instruments, receive assistance with hospitalization procedures, injections and fluid therapy.

Some Medical Record Duties Include:

- Well versed in hospital software (Avimark), medical record charting, surgical monitoring charts, dental charts, hospitalized patient charts and keep very thorough legible and professional notes in each chart.

- Able to record TPR's, medical history, patient status, procedures, treatments, findings, lab and complete discharge, homecare, and report card instructions.

- Thoroughly have conversations with clients regarding recommendations, declined recommendations, or treatments, and entering detailed notes under patient chart as to what was gone over with client.

Some Housekeeping Duties:

- Keep treatment, surgery, consultation rooms clean and sanitary. Keep lab equipment well maintained, be sure kennels are cleaned on all surfaces, counters, refrigerators, bathroom, floors and general sanitary and closed walls are washed down regularly, all surfaces disinfected, and supplies and crash cart kept stocked with updated non expired supplies *basic work area cleanliness required*.

- Be prepared to perform routine kennel duties including exercising, feeding, medicating, scrubbing, sweeping, moping, laundry and bathing.

Some Inventory Duties Include:

- Maintain, monitor and reconcile controlled drugs.

- List needed inventory items on 'want list' before the last one is taken, unpack orders using hospital packing slip procedures, stock shelves, monitor for expiration dates and redundant items.

Other Duties Include:

- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

- Prepare referral forms, x-rays for shipment or email.

- Police the building and grounds automatically as you walk through, notify management of any damage or necessary repairs in any area of the hospital.

- Be observant of patient and client needs, provide good customer service, be able to accurately answer questions and explain medical and non-medical treatments and conditions based on a 'case by case' scenario. Problem solving with difficult client complaints and upsetting situations should they arise. Report any client concerns to management immediately.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
