Job Description

A registered nurse (RN) working in a telemetry unit provides specialized patient care for individuals who require continuous cardiac monitoring. The RN's job responsibilities may include:

  • Assessment and monitoring: RNs in telemetry settings are responsible for assessing and monitoring their patients' cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and any changes in symptoms or behavior.
  • Medication administration: RNs administer medications as ordered by the physician or nurse practitioner, and ensure that patients are taking the correct medications and dosages.
  • Cardiac monitoring: RNs in telemetry settings are responsible for monitoring their patients' heart rhythms, detecting any abnormalities, and responding appropriately to alarms or alerts.
  • Patient education: RNs educate patients and their families about their cardiac conditions, medications, and treatments.
  • Collaboration: RNs work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as cardiologists, cardiac nurse practitioners, and cardiac rehabilitation specialists, to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Documentation: RNs maintain accurate and complete records of their patients' cardiac histories, treatments, and progress.
  • Comfort measures: RNs provide comfort measures to their patients, such as positioning, skin care, and pain management.
  • Safety measures: RNs ensure that their patients are safe and free from harm, by monitoring for potential complications and implementing preventive measures.
  • Overall, the RN in a telemetry setting plays a critical role in providing specialized care to patients with cardiac conditions, and requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and excellent communication and collaboration skills. The ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and respond quickly to changes in patient status is also essential in this role.

  • Active RN License
  • BLS from AHA
  • NIHSS (preferred)
  • Must be COVID & Flu vaccinated
  • Must have RN Telemetry experience

Pay: $70,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
