Role and Responsibilities: Planning and Preparation:-Create groupings of mixed grade-level students based on common IEP goals-Maintain daily classroom design and schedule-Develop appropriate instructional materials, activities, and lesson plans taking into consideration cognitive levels and age-appropriateness of students-Tailor lesson plans for Core Knowledge ELA and Envisions Math to individual learners and make adjustments based on formative assessment results -Establish clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those learning targets to studentsClassroom Environment: -Utilize Positive Behavior Interventions within the classroom to support students-Arrange for small group learning stations to address a variety of learning styles-Incorporate Zones of Regulation (SEL Curriculum)-Present a warm and energetic personality-Promote a supportive learning and teaching environment that supports the social/emotional well-being of students-Structure the classroom to establish and maintain an effective learning environment for students with complex language, learning and cognitive disabilities per their IEPsEngaging Students in Learning:-Plan and ask rigorous questions using the Depth of Knowledge Chart -Use SEI strategies to support students’ language acquisition -Intentionally plan for student collaboration and opportunities for dialogue-Utilize data to create targeted intervention groups Professional Practice: -Attend and participate in weekly professional learning communities and team time as well as individual coaching-Possess a growth mindset when it comes to engaging with relevant and mission-driven professional learning-Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations-Assist in collection of data for providing appropriate interventions and recommendations-Plan and coordinate with specialists, related service providers, and other staff members to deliver comprehensive programming for students-Attend and conduct parent-teacher conferences each school year (one in Fall and one in Spring)-Develop, implement, and monitor progress of IEP goals and objectives to ensure compliance-Participate in IEP, 504 and RtII meetings, when necessary-Participate in Family Engagement events/outreach-Communicate regularly with parents-Partner with families to develop strong home to school connections-Participate in Science of Reading professional development -Participate in assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon duties-Support, enforce, and adhere to all school policies and procedures-Perform additional duties stated by grade and department-level leaders, Special Education Zone Direction and the School Leadership Team
