**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a dedicated Group Facilitator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping individuals and groups. A facilitator for the Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth 10-14 (SFP 10-14) works with parents, caregivers, and youth to teach skills for bonding, setting boundaries, and monitoring children's activities. Group leaders must have strong facilitation and presentation skills and experience working with parents and youth.

Strengthening Families 10-14 is a seven-session program for families with young adolescents that aims to enhance family protective and resiliency processes and reduce family risk related to adolescent substance abuse and other problem behaviors. The weekly, two-hour sessions include separate parent and child skills-building followed by a family session where parents and children practice the skills they have learned independently, work on conflict resolution and communication, and engage in activities to increase family cohesiveness and positive involvement of the child in the family. Parents are taught how to clarify expectations based on child development norms of adolescent substance use, using appropriate disciplinary practices, managing strong emotions regarding their children, and using effective communication. Children are taught refusal skills for dealing with peer pressure and other personal and social interactional skills.

• Exhibit an enthusiasm for family skill-building programs and the ability to engage with participants
• Lead activities, including active games
• Share leadership and work with individual families as they have family discussions, complete projects, and complete learning activities together
• Show video and lead role plays (Sessions 5 & 6)
• Willingness to prepare before the session in order to lead effectively
• Willingness to teach the program as designed with fidelity
• Willingness to fill out any requested reports and collect participant data
• Other duties as assigned

Work Conditions:

• General office environment, school settings and community functions.

• Late afternoon/early evenings are required

Required Physical Abilities:

• Must be physically able to sit for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours per day.

• Must be able to reach, push and pull with arms and hands.

• May be required to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion.
