Job description

Responsible for providing equipment maintenance, mechanical and electrical repairs on manufacturing machinery. This position may require overtime and weekend work. We will provide on-the-job training for candidates with a willingness to learn.

Position Summary

Completes maintenance duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. As part of the facilities maintenance team, supports all aspects of building structure, utilities maintenance and production support.

Responsibilities:

• Install, repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services, maximizing production time and minimizing down time
• Upgrade machinery and equipment to improve production
• Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating difficulties
• Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production
• Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining or replacement of purchased parts
• Perform maintenance on the building, facilities and grounds
• Assist to determine the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion. Complete assigned projects as directed
• Perform all assigned preventive maintenance on production equipment and machinery, and the building and grounds
• Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry
• Follow and comply with all company safety and work rules and regulations
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
• Work as part of a team
• Regular, on-time attendance
• All other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager

Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
• Ability to speak effectively
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form

Experience:

• Associate degree in mechanical maintenance or trades training equivalent; progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience
• Proven track record of safe work practices

Equipment:

• Hearing protection, eye protection as directed by the work being performed
• Forklift trucks
• Shop equipment
• Small hand and power tools; precision measuring devices; variety of electronic testing equipment

Physical Requirements:

• Twisting, grasping, pushing, pulling regularly
• Must be able to regularly climb ladders and stairs and lift loads of 50 pounds
• Flexibility to bend, stoop, squat and kneel repetitively during shift
• Ability to stand or walk the entire shift
• Ability to see, hear and talk to other teammates while working
• Ability to tolerate extreme temperature changes occasionally
• Ability to occasionally lift equipment and tools up to 75 lbs
• Ability to occasionally carry/lift up to 50 lbs
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration
