Position Summary:

This position includes instruction of high school students 10-12 grades in the areas of computer information technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Computer Information Technology instructor’s responsibilities include: instruction of high school students in all facets of computer information systems including PC maintenance, networks, programming, coding, HTML, operating systems, etc.

• Student advisement, supervision of students, serve on campus committees, program planning, student evaluation, student recruitment, professional development

• Development of curriculum, maintenance of classroom records, communication with representatives in the field

• Support a chapter of Skills USA for CIS students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of network protocols.

• Programming and coding skills.

• Knowledge of computer related hardware.

• Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills with diverse populations.

• Ability to relate to high school students.

• Strong math skills.

• Ability to work in a team.

• Willingness to learn and stay current with industry demands in related field.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field.

• 2 years documented work experience in the field.

• Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Information Systems or related field.

• 3 or more years work experience in the field or 2 or more years of instruction experience in CIS or related field.

• Appropriate industry CIS related certifications.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

This position reports to Arkansas Tech Career Center Russellville Campus, under the direction of Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus.

Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift 25 pounds on occasion.
