Arizona is Hiring an Operations Coordinator Near Tucson, AZ

  • Mailroom and Building Support.
    • Under the direction of the Building Manager, manages the incoming mail and lab materials.
    • Maintains the inventory of perishable items and ensures the lab staff are aware of the status of their incoming materials. 
    • Coordinates with Campus Central Receiving for large items that require special handling.
    • Maintains the receiving area in an organized and efficient condition.
    • Assists labs daily in shipping of outbound lab samples and correspondence.
    • Add and remove digital building access and assists with office key requests.
    • Responsible for a master key to unlock labs or offices for deliveries, maintenance or other facilities responsibilities.
    • Input IT or facilities requests approved by the building manager.
  • Laboratory Cleaning and Coordination. 
    • Assists with the cleaning of wet and dry laboratory spaces using general cleaning supplies and equipment.
    • Coordinates the disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials with University Safety Office.
    • Coordinates with movers for the placement of inbound lab equipment.
    • Uses hand carts to pack and store boxes of chemicals and lab equipment about twice a month.
    • Inspects and performs preventive maintenance on common laboratory equipment.
    • Submits cleaning requests for lab spills or cleanup that requires immediate attention.
    • Monitors freezer and temperature notification systems.
  • Scheduling and Space Management.
    • Receive and process space committee requests, including taking minutes for meetings.
    • Schedule and de-conflict conference rooms, including managing online scheduling requests.
    • Maintain the functionality of conference rooms and audiovisual equipment.
    • Moderate ListServ notification systems and messages, as approved for submission.
  • Surplus Equipment.
    • Submits surplus or recycle requests for obsolete or broken equipment that has been approved for disposal by the building manager.
    • Coordinates with the surplus team to ensure that building access is granted and that the correct equipment is picked up.
    • Uses hand carts to transport lab equipment every 1-2 months.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs daily, occasional lifting up to 40 lbs for cold storage and surplus, with occasional operation of a hydraulic load lift on a quarterly basis.
