Arizona is Hiring a Mental Health Clinician – College of Veterinary Medicine Near Tucson, AZ

  • Provide in-person and telehealth counseling services using culturally informed and culturally relevant practices to veterinary medical students, including assessment, diagnosis, and psychotherapy treatment.
  • Respond to student crisis situations and provided suicide assessment as needed.
  • Establish rapport quickly and communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Develop appropriate individual treatment plans for patients.
  • Design and conduct psychoeducational workshops on wellness topics for veterinary medical students and the College of Veterinary Medicine community.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team with UArizona’s Counseling & Psych Services and Campus Health Center.
  • Partner and collaborate with other University departments, wellness programs and community entities to provide quality support.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation in an electronic record system consistent with ethical guidelines, state statutes, and internal policies.
  • Use information technology to support and improve integrated wellness care.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent at assisting students with identifying their needs, setting goals, crisis management, and providing referrals as needed.
  • Systems-informed consultative skills.
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Self-awareness of how one’s own identities and life experiences impact their counseling strategies and interactions with students.
  • Proficiency in addressing intersectional issues of culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, and other aspects of identity within the context of psychotherapy with emerging adults.
