Arizona State University is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Phoenix, AZ

The ASU team will works with 5 military sites in Arizona to create adaptable solutions that build upon existing military infrastructure, and evidence-based prevention approaches, while adding a new level of internal and external coordination for prevention service delivery. The project efforts will focus on upstream community-based, universal, selective, and indicated approaches across the full range of social determinants of health. This project will demonstrate cross-cutting prevention through the reduction in harmful behaviors and increase in signature behaviors within populations of service members and their families. This position works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; identifies and acquires necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with sponsoring source's expectations.

Essential Duties

  • May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of subordinates.
  • Develop and recommend new or revised program goals and objectives.
  • Develop and schedule program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of proposal for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors.
  • Confer with and advise staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation; refers to appropriate department person when unable to respond.
  • Coordinate activities of program with inter-related activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.
  • Prepare periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action.
  • Review applications or other program documents independently or in conjunction with supervisor to determine acceptance or make decisions pertaining to program.
  • Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
  • Develop, compile, and write communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinates process from development through printing and distribution.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings or conferences; coordinates logistics, scheduling and participant communications.
  • Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Six years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of military culture,
  • Evidence of CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management): Equivalent of 1 year of project management experience.
  • Evidence of PMP (Project Management Professional): Equivalent of 2 years of project management experience.
  • Evidence of PgMP (Program Management Professional): Equivalent of 4 years of project management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion program evaluation.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse 75 %
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work 10%
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds 15%.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
