MADISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT

TITLE: COMMUNITY EDUCATION ECP PROGRAM COORDINATOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess AZ teaching certificate in early childhood education/child development preferred or education/experience as deemed appropriate by the Director of Community Education.
  2. Possess two years’ staff supervisory experience.
  3. Possess two years’ experience providing training to preschool staff.
  4. Ability to become director qualified through DHS.
  5. Hire, supervise and evaluate program staff.
  6. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  7. Require Class 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card application (prior to first day of employment).
  8. Require CPR and First Aid Certification.
  9. Possess two years’ experience preschool supervision or preschool teaching experience.
  10. Relate to students, staff and public in a positive manner
  11. Require proof of Mantoux TB test results (prior to first day of employment).

JOB GOAL: Provide direction, supervision and assistance using a variety of resources. Maintain effective and efficient operation of the early childhood program. Enable, direct and assist in staff development by promoting creativity, expanding knowledge, and creating a desire for lifelong learning within Community Education programs. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain informative and supportive relationships with all Community Education staff and administrators.
  2. Collaborate with other District Community Education leaders for program development and cross training.
  3. Collect data, review program needs, and coordinate staff development for the Community Education preschool staff.
  4. Coordinate ongoing preschool staffing responsibilities to include hiring, conduct interviews, check references, assign employee locations/transfers, and issue employee discipline.
  5. Train new employees on program policies, philosophy, specific procedures and duties.
  6. Coordinates planning, scheduling of staff and facilities for successful operation of preschool camps.
  7. Develop and update staff training manual, policy / procedures, and orientation.
  8. Collect, verifies, and organizes data from programs such as accident reports, discipline reports, monthly budgets, attendance reports, and ratios.
  9. Fill in for ratio coverage at schools as needed..
  10. Provide preschool information for publication in various areas including social media, flyers and brochures, school newsletters, board briefing reports, and parent communication..
  11. Update existing forms.
  12. Develops program surveys and evaluation tools.
  13. Collaborate with the Food Service Department for nutritious snacks.
  14. Collaborate with the Transportation Department for field trip requests.
  15. Maintain requested purchase order agreements within budget guidelines per program.
  16. Review classroom lesson plans, newsletters and various correspondences to parents and community.
  17. Serve as a resource for parents and staff.
  18. Coordinate with the Account Coordinator to successfully plan for registration / orientation procedures for preschool programs.
  19. Assist site staff with behavior plans and parent concerns.
  20. Maintain confidentiality of job-acquired information.
  21. Understand and apply safety precautions as outlined in SDS (safety document sheets).
  22. Plan and facilitate bi-monthly ECP Instructor meetings and professional development.
  23. Serve as a mentor and liaison to staff by making site visits and evaluate programs to achieve quality programming.
  24. Assist preschool teachers in maintaining program standards for on-going Arizona Department of Health Services licensing process.
  25. Assist preschool teachers and coordinators in preparing for Quality First visits and work with the District Admin to ensure classrooms have what they need.
  26. Contribute to the team by accomplishing additional duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customers or employees.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Community Education.

SUPERVISION:

 Responsible for hiring, supervision and evaluations of preschool teachers.

EXEMPT / SALARY SCHEDULE / LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:

Classified Exempt Level E-2 base $49,267
