Job Summary:
This position will assist and advise the Director of Multimodal Planning and the ADOT Director in the administration and implementation of Transit Programs utilizing Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding apportioned annually to ADOT by the Federal Transit Administration. The person in this position will need to forge strong working relationships with other government entities and major stakeholders engaged in transit services and statewide transit planning. Provide technical expertise/management assistance to ensure that ADOT fulfills its federal responsibilities (23 CFR Chapter VI) as well as state responsibilities (A.R.S. Title 28) of these programs. Oversee the many elements connected to these programs, including but not limited to metropolitan transit planning/rural transit planning, relevant planning studies and competitive applications: Transit Planning, Small Urbanized Area Formula Program and Bus/Bus Facilities, Elderly and Persons with Disabilities and Rural Public Transit. Oversee the implementation and staff duties for the State Safety Oversight Program. Direct and coordinate: transit program development and management, federal regulatory compliance, capital facilities planning and development, procurement, asset management and safety. Provide technical assistance as needed to Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO), Council of Governments (COG), local governments, and transit stakeholders.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

The Ideal Candidate will have:
Master's Degree in Planning, Business, Public Administration or another related/relevant field, preferred.
Prefer five (5) years of experience in transit planning and/or transit service delivery. Experience with preparation of transit grant applications, administration of transit services/transit planning activities, preferred. Experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) may be substituted.
Requirement(s):
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Business, Public Administration, or another related/relevant field.
