Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking a Part-Time Physician 2 to work under the direction of the Medical Director. This position is responsible for performing primary care/adolescent medical diagnosis and treatments; providing medical assessment and consultation; acting on behalf of the Medical Director; performing in a variety of public health/preventative medical program areas. Job Duties:
Performs a variety of professional general medical and medical specialty services, such as conducting medical examinations, making diagnoses, prescribing and administering medical treatment
Performs minor surgery and administers local anesthetics
Shares duty for night and emergency calls
Participates in consultations and medical staff meetings
Participates in education and training programs
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of primary care/adolescent medicine and preventative public health as required
Basic principles and practices of psychiatry and psychotropic medications
Principles and skills for performing minor surgery
Skill in:
Diagnosing and the application of medical knowledge
Ability to:
Administer medical treatment and diagnostic or preventative health programs
Directly work with other professional staff
Apply prior knowledge of training to unusual and varied medical and/or psychiatric and/or public health conditions
Work effectively with others
Speak and write effectively
Selective Preference(s):
Knowledge of primary adolescent medicine and specialty in Family Medicine or Pediatrics. Adolescent Medicine, internal medicine, and Pediatrics and experience in a primary care setting may offset this. Experience working with high-risk youth is preferred. Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred but not required Pre-Employment Requirements:
Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current valid Arizona-issued driver’s license. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license records checks, maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12). Must possess a Doctor’s Degree from an accredited School of Medicine or approved School of Osteopathic Medicine; completion of an approved internship; and completion of an approved program as required for board eligibility in the designated. Must possess unlimited license to practice medicine in Arizona granted by the Arizona State Board of Medical Examiners or the Arizona State Board of Osteopathic Examiners. The successful candidate is required to complete the following: Panel Interview Comprehensive Background Investigation Fingerprinting Drug Screening Arizona residency is required for this position.
